Orthodontic Scheduling

Most patients seeking orthodontic treatment have other important obligations during the day, usually involved with work or school. When active orthodontic treatment begins, each patient is seen on a regular basis and some of these appointments will conflict with work or school schedules.

We have devoted considerable time and effort to design our schedule to maximize the number of short appointments available before and after school, but it is impossible to see all appointments at those times. Our longer appointments, which include placement or removal of braces and expanders, are scheduled during the school day. This will allow us to accommodate more of the standard and shorter orthodontic adjustments during the before and after school hours. Since we see patients every four to eight weeks, missing some school every other visit only amounts to three to five times a year. We will provide a school excuse for any appointment during the school day.

To ensure timely treatment progression, it is recommended to schedule follow-up appointments at the end of your current visit.

Rescheduling Appointments

We understand that occasionally, unexpected situations occur that require rescheduling or result in missed appointments. We will make every effort to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible. To prevent a delay in treatment, it may be necessary to reschedule the appointment during school hours, as after-school times are generally booked four to eight weeks in advance. Missed appointments or frequent changes to appointments may lead to an extension of your treatment time.

Emergencies

Thankfully, true orthodontic emergencies are rare; most issues involve a broken wire or bracket that can be addressed by scheduling a repair appointment or waiting until the next regular visit. Please contact us as soon as possible with your issue so we can determine the appropriate course of action.

Dental Care

Please continue visiting your regular pediatric or family dentist during orthodontic treatment. It is recommended to visit your dentist every three to six months while undergoing active orthodontic treatment. If you change dentists or have any changes in your medical history, inform our office as soon as possible.

Insurance Information

Our office is committed to helping you maximize your insurance benefits. Because insurance policies vary, we can only estimate your coverage in good faith and cannot guarantee coverage due to the complexities of insurance contracts. Financial arrangements will be made on the estimated patient portion at the time of service. As a service to our patients, we will submit claims to insurance companies on your behalf. If you have any questions, our courteous staff is always available to answer them.
